Having being diagnosed with Paget’s disease I met this lovely human being, immediately she put me at ease and discussed the surgery procedure, she made me feel relaxed and we discussed my previous partial mastectomy and reconstruction which went very wrong 22 yrs ago. She offered to make my breasts even by doing a melon slice surgery. I could not be more thrilled with the results. She was very supportive throughout all of the procedure and came to see me before I was discharged to discuss what she had done during my operation.
She is definitely an asset to the hospital and would not hesitate to praise her enough.

Miss Maclean I feel is an excellent Consultant. She is extremely efficient & talented in her field. Explaining everything clearly,relieving any further anxiety I had, in my experience.
I elected to have my treatment with Gael because of her reviews and was extremely happy with my decision ,regarding pre surgery for breast surgery, post surgery and aftercare including follow up appointments, which have all been face to face appointments which I prefer.
I can only commend Gael on her experience and confidential personality that I certainly appreciated and still appreciate as my aftercare commences.

Gael MacLean has been a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon in Oxford since 2014. She specialises in breast cancer surgery optimising the cosmetic outcome as well as treating benign breast conditions.
Gael graduated from King's College, University of London and trained in surgery in London, Reading and Oxford. She undertook further specialist breast reconstructive surgery training at the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden.
Gael was Head of Department for Breast surgery at Oxford University NHS Hospitals throughout the Covid 19 pandemic and ensured that excellent clinical standards were maintained for patients during that difficult time.
Gael is dedicated to raising surgical standards through excellent training of surgeons in the UK. She was the first Honorary Secretary of the prestigious Faculty of Surgical Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeon in Edinburgh - whose standards for surgical trainers were adopted by the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK. She has been an invited speaker nationally and internationally.
Gael is passionate about finding the right operation and treatment plan for each individual patient. She takes a full role (including stepping in to chair the meetings) in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) breast cancer meetings in both the NHS and in the Private sector where each patient is fully discussed. She works closely with her Consultant colleagues in radiology, oncology and pathology.
